Cannabis in 5 surprising facts
Even though we know the cannabis plant like the back of our hand, it continues to be a mystery. Here are 5 surprising facts about our industry, growing cannabis, and the effects of the plant. Have you heard of them before?
The human body naturally produces cannabinoids.
Yep, that’s right. Cannabinoids are not exclusive to the cannabis plant. Human, animal and plant organisms also produce them. The effects of cannabinoids produced naturally by the body ( known as “endocannabinoids “) continue to be the focus of scientific interest and discovery. But it is known that they do not produce the same effects as the cannabinoids found in cannabis, namely THC and CBD.
Cannabis can be both relaxing and stimulating.
These two general categories are typically used to classify cannabis products. Although the effects of cannabis on the body are still being studied and analyzed (this is one of our passions!), indica-dominant products are generally thought to be calming and relaxing, while sativa-dominant products can make you more creative, sociable, and feeling energized.
Canada is the only G7 country to legalize both recreational and medical use of cannabis.
To date, and as of 17 October 2018, Canada is the only leading industrialized country to have legalized the production, sale and consumption of cannabis for recreational purposes throughout its territory. However, it remains one of the most highly regulated industries in the country! Products offered for sale on the legal market are submitted to a series of laboratory tests by Health Canada to ensure their quality and safety.
There is no such thing as expired cannabis!
It’s a fact: cannabis does not have an expiry date. However, its freshness will be affected over time, especially if it is not stored in an airtight container, away from moisture, air, and light. Take a close look at the packaging and you will find the date the product was packaged (not harvested) on it.
Cannabis cannot cause a fatal overdose.
Indeed, while we promote responsible consumption in all respects and at all times, we reassure you that a lethal dose of cannabis would be approximately equivalent to consuming 1,500 pounds in 15 minutes! This is why there are no reported cases of fatal cannabis-related overdose to this day.
